10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver
The BCM5400 is a complete 10/100/1000BASE-T transceiver solution for CAT 5 unshielded cables. The device integrates all of the circuitry required for 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet on-chip and is based on a highly advanced DSP architecture that includes digital adaptive equalizers, encoders, decoders, echo cancellers, crosstalk cancellers, ADCs, PLLs, line drivers, etc. The BCM5400 easily interfaces with Ethernet MACs and repeater controllers that are compliant with the IEEE 802.3 GMII or TBI specifications.
The BCM5400 makes Gigabit Ethernet network equipment easier to install by automatically detecting and correcting common wiring problems. These include the ability to automatically configure MDI crossover, correct pair swaps, pair skew, and pair polarity problems.
