Broadcom is a founding member of the RVU Alliance that developed a specification for full-featured, 'pixel accurate' remote user interface technology that provides an identical user experience on thin client consumer electronics CE devices. This enables the secure distribution of high quality digital audio and video entertainment and information content in the connected home.
RVU technology is expected to accelerate the availability of service provider content throughout the home, as a server-controlled and common user interface that not only allows display of service provider program guide and menu screens, but enables the rapid introduction of new features and applications that typically accompany service provider content. Refinements to the user experience can be deployed in the home with a single update in the RVU media server that appears on all subscribed thin client CE devices.
The RVU Alliance complements and benefits existing industry interoperability initiatives including the Digital Living Network Alliance® (DLNA®), of which RVU Alliance founders are promoting members.
